The 2019 Young Exhibition Makers (Y.Ex) cohort is accepting submissions from teenage artists from the East Flatbush, East New York and greater Brooklyn area. There will be an open discussion about the financial hardships for first-generation college students, the ramifications of student debt, scholarships and grants, resources on campus, and how to hack college financial aid. The Summer “Intensive” Session is a great opportunity for students to dive into a month and half of art-making in an immersive setting that enables students to explore observational drawing in graphite, charcoal, and ink, as well as a variety of other media including painting, collage-making, and printmaking. Young New York artists between 10 and 24 years old that explore issues of policing, criminal justice, and police-community relations in their visual arts (photography, painting, graphic design, illustration, or video) can submit their artwork.
