The Summer “Intensive” Session is a great opportunity for students to dive into a month and half of art-making in an immersive setting that enables students to explore observational drawing in graphite, charcoal, and ink, as well as a variety of other media including painting, collage-making, and printmaking. Teaching Living Cultures (TLC) is a PreK-12 arts education program of the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute in Harlem that immerses students in the music, dance, theater, moving image, and the visual arts of the African Diaspora. Beyond providing high caliber arts-based educational programs that meet NY State Common Core Standards, TLC addresses the crisis of disengagement and exclusion amongst Black and Latino youth.
