SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Chelsea CTE High School, located in the SoHo section of Manhattan, is committed to educating the leaders of tomorrow in an environment that is safe and supportive. Our graduates are prepared for college, career, and life. To accomplish this, Chelsea offers Advanced Placement courses in US History, Government & Politics, Calculus, Psychology, and Literature & Composition. Our high-quality CTE programs allow students to earn industry-recognized certification in Graphic Arts, C-Tech, A+, and Cisco Systems. In addition, our school’s administration works closely with teachers and students to create classroom environments that are rigorous and engaging. Infused throughout our curriculum is a spirit of collaboration and interdisciplinary learning and the arts.

Four-Year Plan Goals
Goal One: To support visual art students all the way through 12th grade via deeper, foundational arts learning as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary learning that draw on their strength in the arts.
Goal Two: To expand the theatre program into deeper interdisciplinary residencies and a new advanced Citizen Artist theatre elective for seniors.
Approach
Goal One: The school starts with a single offering of the elective for students who opt-in, and focuses on drawing schools for initial portfolio development. In subsequent years, the school adds additional sections to meet anticipated student demand, diversify the mediums and techniques covered in the curriculum, and help students to deepen their portfolio development and self-publication strategies. In subsequent years, the school adds additional sections of the portfolio elective as well as new interdisciplinary units, diversify the mediums.
Goal Two: Epic Theatre Ensemble simultaneously works with content area teachers to identify opportunities to deepen the already-existing residencies while also working closely with the theatre teacher to develop a new 12th grade advanced class for students wishing to pursue a culminating Citizen Artist project. These 12th graders embark on an original, community-rooted devised theatre piece. The content area teachers work under Epic's guidance to identify strategies for including new interdisciplinary strands into existing Epic Theatre residencies in the school, thereby continuing to strengthen the school-wide culture around developing young Citizen Artists.

Outcome
Goal One: Students will build stronger portfolios, applying and demonstrating the principles of design and the skills they have mastered. They will also have the grades and academic support that will make them stronger viable post-secondary candidates. Artistic students will see the relevance of each piece of their school experience and find the support they need as they put these pieces together.
Goal Two: The four year Citizen Artist sequence is designed to support and track the students’ academic, artistic, social, and civic growth through theatre over time.
